FBL Joins the Top 10 Accounting Firms in Quebec
Russell Bedford member firm grows from 130 to 200 personnel across Quebec, one step at a time.
London, United Kingdom, July 02, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Russell Bedford's Montreal member FBL made the headlines recently in Quebec's leading business and financial weekly newspaper Les Affaires, which included a special feature on the major accounting firms - 'Les Grands de la comptabilité'.
FBL partner Marcel Bergeron was interviewed by Les Affaires, and commented on his firm's activities over the last year, particularly with regard to its growth from 130 to 200 personnel across the province of Quebec. He also shared his views on current issues in the field of accounting, the state of the market, the firm's broadening range of services, its development prospects for the coming year and the topic of business succession.
Over the last year, FBL has recorded some impressive achievements. It is now present in Quebec City with 35 staff and is newly established in Farnham where there are 15 personnel. The firm's increase in staffing is also linked to business growth in the existing offices in Montreal, Brossard, Acton Vale and Drummondville. The result is that FBL achieved the highest growth rate among the top 25 firms this year - and it took 9th place in the league compared to 13th last year.
"2014 will be another year of expansion, because we want to be present in all the key cities in Quebec," says Marcel Bergeron. "We will continue to expand our business geographically while developing the offices that we already have."
For its geographic expansion, the firm, like many of its competitors, is targeting smaller CPA firms lacking internal succession options. But the firm is careful not to grow too fast. "Growth of one or two additional offices per year is our chosen limit," according to Bergeron - in order to ensure successful integration of the new resources.
In addition, the firm is relying on service specialisation in order to adapt to economic conditions. "Development is enormous in the areas of business appraisal, tax consulting and succession planning, in which we specialise to the extent that those fields are synonymous with our brand," says Bergeron. But the firm's range of services is not yet complete in the eyes of its partners. They want to expand in the area of wealth management services and also further develop their consulting services relating to business succession. "There are many opportunities in this field. We want to continue to have a leading position," says Bergeron.
