Accretive Health Revs Up the Volunteerism at Local Car & Bike Show

Chicago, IL, July 02, 2014 --(PR.com)-- On Saturday, June 7, 2014, Accretive Helping Hands joined hundreds of friends, neighbors, and employees of Saint Anthony Hospital at the hospital’s annual Summer Fest. Accretive Helping Hands is how Accretive Health’s 1,750 U.S. employees extend their volunteerism across the country. Accretive Helping Hands helps patients and their families navigate the difficulties encountered after treatment by partnering with community healthcare and social work providers.

Held on the hospital grounds at 19th & California, in Chicago, the event featured carnival games, food from local restaurants, free health screenings, health consultations and a community-wide car and bike show. Proceeds benefited the Saint Anthony Hospital Community Wellness and Education Center.

“This year, we had 17 cars, two motorcycles and one custom bike at the car& bike show,” said Mike Seremak, an Accretive Health employee who volunteered to work at the event. “Accretive was responsible for the flyers and posters for the event, we assisted in promoting the event to local businesses and car shows, organized entertainment, organized the judging of the car & bike show, and presented trophies to winning participants.”

Accretive Helping Hands also worked with the Chicago Fire Department to bring a fire truck to the event for the children to enjoy.

“This was my second year volunteering at Summer Fest,” Seremak added. “It’s a lot of work, but well worth it – I can’t wait until next year!”
