United Way Receives Glitzy Gift from Spence Diamonds
Canadian diamond retailer donates $78, 000 worth of diamond jewelry to United Way of the Lower Mainland, as part of their continued commitment to local charities.
Vancouver, Canada, October 19, 2007 --(PR.com)-- This week, the United Way of the Lower Mainland received a particularly generous and decadent gift from Canadian diamond retailer Spence Diamonds.
Craig Ikeda, Director of Major Gifts and Personal Philanthropy for the United Way of the Lower Mainland was surprised to discover a donation of $78, 000 worth of diamond jewelry at the company’s head office in Vancouver. The jewels themselves will be sold by auction, and the funds will be used to fund various children programs in the Vancouver area.
“Spence Diamonds is very proud to support United Way,” said Sean Jones, President of Spence Diamonds. “We have always been supporters of causes that benefit children, and this is one exciting way that we know will always help to generate a lot of funds for those programs.”
Spence Diamonds’ employees themselves choose which charities receive donations each year. As a result, the diamond retail chain donates gifts to causes in each of the cities where Spence Diamonds’ stores exist. Earlier this year, Spence Diamonds presented gifts to The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation in Edmonton, Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, the Children’s Wish Foundation in Toronto, the C.H.I.L.D foundation in Langley and the B.C Lions Foundation in Vancouver.
