Presidio Knolls School’s First Annual Benefit
San Francisco, CA, October 20, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The First Annual Benefit of Presidio Knolls School will be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 24th 2007 at The Bay School, 35 Keyes Ave, San Francisco.
Presidio Knolls School, a non-profit 501(c)3 school, aims to create a top-quality educational preschool program that integrates Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum with Mandarin-English immersion education. After three years of incubation, with the help of volunteers and donations from generous supporters, the school is scheduled to open in January 2008.
The Benefit will enhance awareness of the school, raise money to complete its renovation, and prepare the new facility for entering preschoolers. 100% of the money raised will be used to prepare for the school’s opening, including funding of the fine arts programs, language and literacy supplies, and scholarships for low-income families.
"As parents of two young children, my husband and I decided to resist the temptation of leaving this gorgeous city to relocate to a suburban school district,” said Wendy Xa, founder of Presidio Knolls School. “If there is not enough Mandarin-Immersion slots here, then why don't we create them? With the help of our amazing parent volunteers, we are on track to open our dream school, but we still need more help from the community."
In a congratulatory letter to Presidio Knolls, Mayor Gavin Newsom said, “I am… pleased to welcome the Presidio Knolls School to our community. I want to commend the efforts of the many volunteers and generous supporters who helped this project come to fruition. [The Benefit] event is about fun, friendships, and fulfilling one’s passion in life. It is also an evening about supporting worthy education programs to help our young people reach their full potential. I wish every one attending tonight’s fundraiser a most enjoyable event and best of luck on a successful endeavor.”
The Benefit is the first opportunity for interested parents to meet the director, teachers, and volunteers. Additionally, accomplished San Francisco educators will speak on the direction of education. The event will feature:
• Keynote addresses by the Venerable Malcolm Manson, Head of The Bay School and Hydra Mendoza, Education Advisor to Mayor Gavin Newsom
• Live auction hosted by KFOG’s Peter Finch
• Hor d’oeuvres and cocktails
Those in attendance will be able to bid on a wide variety of goods and services including tickets to professional sporting events, high-end hotel accommodations, theater packages and much more. Tickets for the event are available to purchase at $75 per person or $125 per couple.
