D'Apotic Pharmacy Offers Pupillage for Pharmacy Graduates
D'Apotic Pharmacy joins the ranks of private and public hospitals in Malaysia that are allowed to train graduate pharmacists to enable them to obtain a license to practice as a pharmacist in Malaysia.
Johor Bahru, Malaysia, July 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The CEO of D’Apotic Pharmacy, Maal Kannusamy, announced that they have been recognised by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia, to offer pupillage to any graduate pharmacist.
Pupillage is a 12-month period of internship at recognised retail pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies and hospitals. The objective of the pupillage is for graduates to undergo a planned training programme on aspects of pharmacy practice under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
After passing the Forensic Pharmacy examination and completing one year of pupillage, graduates are eligible to register with the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia and may practise as a registered Pharmacist in Malaysia.
Maal stated that this appointment by the Pharmacy Board was a recognition of D’Apotic’s ability to instill ethical values into a graduate pharmacist to ensure that the practice of the pharmacy profession always focuses on the patient rather than the bottom line.
D’Apotic Pharmacy has branches in Johor and the Klang Valley, so they are able to take in a few pharmacists for pupillage every year. Pharmacists who eventually obtain the license to practice as a pharmacist are also eligible to apply for full time employment with D’Apotic.
Pharmacists are also given the option to take up shares in new outlets and be the resident pharmacist of that branch. The model is a profit share scheme. Maal explained that such a system ensures that the resident pharmacist always maintain high ethical standards and also to have a sense of ownership.
Maal stated that being a part of the Pharmacy Board’s Pupillage Programme, ensures that they get a steady pool of potential pharmacists to recruit from, rather than relying on traditional recruitment methods via job postings. This Programme allows Management to evaluate a potential candidate for 12 whole months, instead of the usual 3-month or 6-month probation period.
This Pupillage Programme is ongoing throughout the year and all eligible graduate pharmacists are welcome to apply for pupillage positions at D’Appotic Pharmacy by writing in to the Human Resource department requesting for an application form. The HR department may be contacted via email at info@d-apotic.com.
