America's Next Top Model Calls on Take It Down, Hollywood's Hair Rehab Salon, to Remedy Model Participants' Hair
Los Angeles, CA, October 19, 2007 --(PR.com)-- When three participants from this season’s makeover episode of The CW’s “America’s Next Top Model” fell prey to severely damaged hair caused by poorly maintained hair extensions, producers turned to the hair care experts at Take It Down for help.

Known as Hollywood’s “hair hospital and hair rehab,” Take It Down is a one-of-a-kind salon that is highly skilled to analyze and solve a variety of complex hair issues such as professional hair extension removal and hair care that few hair salons want to do or are trained to resolve. Their techniques and products heal and restore the damage to hair caused, not only by poor hair extension maintenance, but also a variety of hair challenges. The CW’s “America’s Next Top Model” requested Take It Down to remedy the hair of three particular model participants on this season’s show. Producers insisted that Take It Down’s CEO and founder Dawn Patton be personally on hand and on camera to save the models’ hair.

ANTM participant, Ebony, had rubber cemented extensions into her hair, resulting in stunted hair growth and damaged hair follicles. Participant Bianca’s hair was two toned in color and had extreme damage to the hair’s texture caused by repeated home hair color and the home application of chemical relaxers. Participant Saleisha had two types of weaves in her hair, which the show’s stylists wished to take down in order to give her a new cropped look.

Producers of the hit television show courted Take It Down CEO Dawn Patton, by visiting her specialty hair salon on Wilshire Blvd. in the heart of Los Angeles, to express their wish for Dawn to appear on the episode, which aired last Wednesday, October 10, 2007 on the The CW television network. “They really wanted me to come in as their hair trauma and hair care expert,” explained Patton.

After the producers’ plea, “We don’t know what to do. Could you help us?” Take It Down’s team of hair care experts came to the rescue of “America’s Next Top Model” to correct the models’ damaged tresses. “We were asked to diagnose, remedy, and treat the hair. We were able to teach those models about the proper maintenance for extensions and taking care of their own natural hair. The girls were nervous, but we calmed them down,” explained Patton. During filming, Patton explained the cause of the problem with each girl’s hair extensions, and identified all three participants with what Take It Down refers to as a “Code Red” (severely problematic extensions).

Take It Down’s team then went to work taking down the hair extensions and treating the hair to get each girl ready for their new hairstyles, created by hairstylist, Ken Paves. “We know exactly what to do to remove and restore even the worst hair extensions, and most importantly to restore the hair back to health,” expressed Patton.

The segment in which Dawn Patton and the rest of the hair care team from Take it Down appeared was shot at the famous Ken Paves Salon, known for styling the coiffs of Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria.

Take It Down is located at 6404 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 108, Los Angeles, CA 90048. For more information on the salon, visit www.takeitdownla.com
