Santa to the Sea Race Director Prepares for His Salsa Dancing Competition – Hosts Fundraiser to Benefit Scholarship Fund
Santa to the Sea founder and race director Mike Barber is hosting a fundraiser to raise money for his charity as a part of Oxnard Salsa Festival’s Dancing with Our Community Stars contest.
Oxnard, CA, July 13, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Santa to the Sea founder and race director Mike Barber is hosting a fundraiser from 4-7 p.m., July 20 at the Waterside Restaurant and Wine Bar, 3500 S. Harbor Blvd., Oxnard. Barber is vying with five other community leaders to raise the most money for his or her charity as a part of Oxnard Salsa Festival’s Dancing with Our Community Stars contest.
The fundraiser will include both live and silent auctions, food, wine and beer and a salsa dancing demonstration in which guests are encouraged to participate. Tickets to the fundraiser are $50 per ticket and $120 for a bundle of three and can be purchased at santasalsastothesea.eventbrite.com.
Donations to dancer’s charities are considered “votes” in the contest and donations to Santa to the Sea can be made at https://santatothesea.festivalsetup.com/vote-for-mike. Voting ends at noon on July 29. Dancing with Our Community Stars contest will take place at 1 p.m., July 27 at the Oxnard Salsa Festival, 500 S. C St., Oxnard. Santa to the Sea is a nonprofit event borne out of a desire to give back to the community. What started in 2003 as a toy drive to celebrate the relocation of the world’s largest Santa Claus from Carpinteria to Oxnard, has grown into a robust running event, toy drive, and community fundraiser. Santa to the Sea includes a sanctioned half marathon and a 2-person half marathon relay, plus 5K run and 1K kids fun runs. The Santa to the Sea Scholarship Fund partners with the Oxnard College Foundation to award $500 scholarships to local high school students and adults continuing their education at Oxnard College.
