Aussie Superbike Star Crashes Out of Brands Hatch
London, United Kingdom, August 20, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Following a fantastic podium finish at the Knockhill circuit, the recent luck of Complete Cover Group’s sponsored British Superbike rider, David Johnson, took a turn for the worse in the latest round of racing at Brands Hatch.
David crashed out of the race in spectacular fashion when he lost rear traction on his bike at Westfield Bend, high-siding him into the air at over 100mph. Luckily, no bones were broken but Dave suffered severe bruising to his upper body.
The 5th round of the British Superbike Championship didn’t get off to a good start for the Australian biker. As he explains, “I had a shocker of a weekend from the start. There were a couple of problems with the bike, plus I struggled to find the perfect set up with the suspension so I didn't quite have the pace to race at the front. I got stuck in a big battle for 6th position until I lost traction…I’m just happy I didn’t break any bones!”
Despite the crash, Dave says he “can’t wait” for the next race in two weeks’ time, which takes place at Thruxton in Hampshire from 1st to 3rd August.
After Brands Hatch, the fifth round of racing in the championship, he currently stands in 7th position in the Superstock 1000 class, with 38 points.
Complete Cover Group spokesman, Mark Copper, expressed the company’s relief that Dave’s injuries weren’t worse. “Dave races hard; it’s a wonder he wasn’t more badly hurt, coming off at that speed, but we’re glad he’s going to be ok.”
And he added wryly, “In typical fashion, Dave seems totally unfazed. His eagerness for the next race at Thruxton is inspiring…and maybe just a little bit bonkers!”
