IJIS Institute Announces Keynote Presenters for Mid-Year Briefing
FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Division and New Orleans Police and Homeland Security leadership to speak.
Ashburn, VA, July 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The IJIS Institute, a nonprofit organization that focuses on mission-critical information sharing for justice, public safety, and homeland security announces several seasoned law enforcement and homeland security leaders as keynote presenters for the IJIS Institute Mid-Year Briefing. The event will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, from Aug. 6-8, 2014.
Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Sneed, New Orleans’ deputy mayor of public safety, will be the Mid-year Briefing’s opening keynote. Sneed oversees the City’s public safety departments including New Orleans Police, Fire, Emergency Services and Emergency Management. Most recently, he served as the director of the City of New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, where he oversaw the City Assisted Evacuation Plan. Lt. Col. Sneed served over 30 years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps.
The luncheon keynote speaker will be Chief Ronal Serpas, superintendent of police, New Orleans, Louisiana (NOPD) and second vice president of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). He is a 34-year law enforcement veteran, having served as chief of the Washington State Patrol for 21 years before being appointed as chief of police in Nashville. Prior to his tenure in Washington, Chief Serpas retired as the assistant superintendent of Police and the first chief of operations of the NOPD. Chief Serpas received his Doctorate in Urban Studies from the University of New Orleans.
The Friday morning keynote speaker, Stephen Morris, is the newly-appointed assistant director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations’ (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. Morris’ distinguished career includes a long history of working with CJIS programs. He has served as the chief of the Programs Support Section in the CJIS Division, program manager for the FBI’s development of the Law Enforcement National Data Exchange (N-Dex) Program and as deputy assistant director for the CJIS Division. Morris most recently served as special agent in charge of the FBI’s Houston Division.
The IJIS Institute's Mid-year Briefing is a technology briefing and training conference focused on information sharing and safeguarding standards.
