Riders signing autographs after RUS race in Morris.
Monticello, NY, July 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- With the first three races of the RUS New York 2014 Fair Series complete, horses and riders are gearing up for the second half of the series starting with Otsego County Fair in Morris, NY on Tuesday, July 29. Currently there are several horses that have qualified for the final race, and thanks to the generous support of their sponsors, RUS New York is excited to announce the addition of the High Point Rider award.
Similar to the way horses earn points based on their finishes in the series, riders also earn points. They must finish in two races and compete in the final to be eligible to win the High Point Rider award, which consists of prizes from series sponsors Draper Therapies and Horse Quencher, and now also Hawthorne Products.
Two lovely gift baskets were donated by Hawthorne Products to be added to the Champion Horse prize, as well as the High Point Rider award. Hawthorne makes great horse care products, including hoof care, leg care, poultice, and breathing aid products.
The next race in the series is scheduled for Tuesday July 29 at the Otsego County Fair in Morris, NY, where RUS has been on the card in past years as well. After the race, the riders will be available for a meet & greet, photos, and autographs in the stands with the fans. RUS NY Fair Series t-shirts will also be on sale for $10 to help support the series, so be sure to buy one and get your favorite rider or riders to sign it for you.
RUS Nation, the sister organization to RUS New York, just launched a blog series called “We Are RUS Nation” featuring riders and their horses. Along with the entrants for the RUS race at Morris, the first two featured riders in the blog series, Tara Hynes and Ashley Eldred, will be available for autographs as well. You can read their stories at http://rus-nation.com/2014/07/15/featured-riderowner-ashley-eldred-story-ehi/ and http://rus-nation.com/2014/07/22/rus-nation-mr-go-goes-rus-tara-hynes/.
In addition to the prizes, purse money also increased for some of the races, and as more sponsors come in, the purses will continue to increase. There are three more legs left in the series. Points earned by finishers count towards their qualification for the final race, as well as for the High Point Rider Award, to be held at Tompkins County Fair in Trumansburg, New York on August 19.
