Kitchen and Bath Remodeler Opens Flagship Showroom as Research & Development Prototype

Kitchen Tune-Up announces the grand opening of their new Refacing Showroom prototype. Company founder Dave Haglund to host open house and celebration November 2nd and 3rd. Store to be Research and Development prototype for new brand concept.

Aberdeen, SD, October 24, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The store is the flagship prototype for Kitchen Tune-Up’s new retail concept, which will begin national roll-out in 2008. The location will act as a research and development facility for the franchise system, allowing experimentation and testing on everything from layout and signage to operations and advertising. This beautiful showroom will be open by appointment, featuring a range of services: Kitchen Tune-Up’s proprietary “Tune-Up” Wood Reconditioning, Cabinet Refacing and Redooring, Custom Cabinetry, No-Sand Wood Floor Restoration and Acrylic Bath and Shower Liners.

Heidi Morrissey, VP of Sales and Marketing, says the idea behind the new retail concept is based on providing spaces “where people can learn about all the options available to update their kitchens and baths. Take our kitchen remodels, for example, many people aren’t aware of the Refacing process, where we apply real wood veneers to their existing cabinets and add new doors and drawers in many different styles and colors. The result is a whole new kitchen for a fraction of the price.”

Dave Haglund added that Kitchen Tune-Up, built around the “Tune-Up” process he created in 1986, is expanding their retail concept nationwide, from what has been a largely home-based, mobile business model. “We want to have locations where people can schedule a time to come to us. It’s more convenient for some people; they can browse our product line and ask questions in a no-pressure environment. We’ll still be offering our free in-home consultations too, just like we have all these years.”

The signature “Tune-Up” service can take cabinets that are worn, discolored or damaged and restore them to 90 – 95% new. “It’s amazing the difference it can make. You can refurbish an entire kitchen for as little as $1,000.00. It really makes home improvement available to everybody” Haglund added. The Tune-Up works on other wood surfaces as well, like door and window frames, furniture and home entertainment systems.

The company has over 300 franchised territories nationwide and has recently expanded into Canada. They will be celebrating their 20-year anniversary as a franchise system in 2008, headquartered in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Kitchen Tune-Up is a family run company, with Haglund daughter Morrissey being joined by Mark Haglund as VP of Customer Service and Heather Scheidt as Special Projects Coordinator. Oldest son Tony Haglund formerly worked for the company as well, now a pastor for a local congregation.

The store is located at the East entrance of the company’s national headquarters and is adjacent to recently refurbished training facilities where each franchisee spends two weeks learning how to operate their new business, the store completes the complex, which also holds office space for employees who provide the support system for all franchise locations.

The grand opening celebration will be held November 2nd and 3rd with refreshments and prize drawings. On Friday, Kitchen Tune-Up owners from across the country will be on-hand to greet visitors and discuss today’s trends in home remodeling. On Friday and Saturday, the franchise system’s national Lead Kitchen Designer will also be available to discuss design details like workspace layout, door designs and wood choices.
