Bank Dhofar Improves Network Reliability with BridgeWave Wireless Links
Cost-effective 80 GHz Millimeter Wave Wireless Links Increase Network Availability and Operational Efficiencies.
Santa Clara, CA, July 29, 2014 --(PR.com)-- BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of millimeter wave backhaul solutions, today announced that Bank Dhofar has implemented its AR80 AdaptRateTM gigabit millimeter wave wireless solutions to provide high-capacity connectivity on its network.
With assets worth over RO 2.5 billion, Bank Dhofar is one of the fastest growing banks in the Sultanate of Oman, with a strong presence in Corporate Banking, Consumer Banking, Treasury and Project Finance. Bank Dhofar has 65 branch offices with an extensive ATM network spanning the country. Utilizing a free-space optic system to connect one of its branch locations to its main headquarters bank, Bank Dhofar was experiencing network interruptions due to inclement weather, and the bank was finding it difficult to maintain 99.9% uptime needed for sensitive financial transactions.
Looking for an alternative to an existing free-space optics system, Bank Dhofar evaluated point-to-point gigabit leased lines and determined that the high recurring costs were not an option. Bank Dhofar turned to Hussam Technology Company LLC (HTC), a BridgeWave Certified Reseller, who reviewed the application and recommended BridgeWave’s AR80 with AdaptRate functionality. The AR80 radio provides full-duplex gigabit speeds with the ability to maintain link integrity by adjusting its throughput to 100 Mbps during periods of inclement weather.
HTC installed and commissioned the link in less than one week and the link has been providing Bank Dhofar with highly reliable connectivity in all weather conditions. “Time sensitive nature of the business required a very reliable connection that is always available and provides better performance for clearing banking transactions well before cut over time on a daily basis,” said Hassan Abdul Khaliq Ibrahim, Head of IT Infrastructure for Bank Dhofar. “BridgeWave’s gigabit Ethernet millimeter wave solution was deployed to achieve this objective and has been operating seamlessly. We were able to achieve 99.9% uptime SLA in addition to the recurring costs that were lower compared to point to point leased line for similar bandwidth.”
“Banking institutions need a high-performance and reliable network infrastructure to support their financial transactions,” said Joe Schraml, Vice-President of Solutions Marketing for BridgeWave Communications. “BridgeWave is pleased to have helped solve Bank Dhofar’s network connectivity issues by providing an affordable, fiber-equivalent alternative – a cutting-edge technology without the need to stretch their IT budgets.”
