Trenton Garza Files Declaration of Write-in Candidacy
Trenton Garza filed for candidacy as a write-in candidate for Justice of the Peace No. 3 in Potter County, Texas.
Bushland, TX, July 31, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Today, Trenton Garza of Bushland, Texas filed a Declaration of Write-In Candidacy with the County Judge's Office for Potter County. Judge Arthur Ware, as the filing authority, is required by law to determine the eligibility of Mr. Garza’s write-in candidacy and issue his determination within 5 days' time. Should Judge Ware find Mr. Garza eligible, Garza will be challenging incumbent Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson (R, Amarillo), who was previously unopposed, in the General Election scheduled for the 4th of November.
Texas Election Law states that any ballot cast for a Write-In Candidate may only be counted if said candidate’s name appears on the official lists of Write-In Candidates, although the name need only make clear who the ballot is cast for. Access to this list requires the filing of a declaration of write-in candidacy. Texas’s filing period for write-in candidacy began July 19th and will conclude the 18th of August. The general election is scheduled for November 4, 2014. Additionally, Mr. Garza filed a Campaign Treasurer Appointment Form with the Potter County Election Administration Office on July 21, 2014, clearing the way for payment of the appropriate filing fee that accompanied the Declaration of Write-In Candidacy Form.
Mr. Garza reports having met unanimous support by the locals in his campaign efforts and is enthusiastic about future events as he further engages with the community. He emphasizes the importance of this election and the direct impact its implications will have upon Precinct 3 in its future.
