Judge Approves Agribusiness' Supporter's Candidacy in North Texas

Amarillo, TX, August 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- As filing authority, Judge Arthur Ware, County Judge for Potter County, has reviewed the Declaration of Write-In Candidacy filed with the County Judge’s Office by Mr. Garza yesterday and in affixing his signature to the form, determined the application complies with all its requirements. Potter County Elections Administrator, Melynn Huntley, confirmed that Mr. Garza’s name will be included on the official list of write-in candidates.

In making this announcement, Mr. Garza said, “this encouraging step forward in the elections process has made this candidacy is official. Let us take the exciting news into our neighborhoods and share with our friends the opportunity to make a positive change in our community this November.” He further encouraged voters to register to vote or to update their voter registration information.

Mr. Garza has released a copy of the Declaration of Candidacy filed with the County Judge’s Office in a proactive move of transparency, an example of openness and honesty he hopes to bring to Potter County if elected in November.

Texas Election Law states that any ballot cast for a Write-In Candidate may only be counted if said candidate’s name appears on the official lists of Write-In Candidates, although the name need only make clear who the ballot is cast for. Access to this list requires the filing and approval of a Declaration of Write-In Candidacy.

Texas’s filing period for write-in candidacy began July 19th and will conclude the 18th of August. The general election is scheduled for November 4, 2014.
