The LaurelRock Company Donates Services During Renewal and Remembrance Day at Arlington National Cemetery
Wilton, CT, August 02, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The LaurelRock Company’s Garden & Property Manager / Landscape Management Production Manager, Pete Kehoe proudly participated in PLANET’s (Professional Landcare Network) Renewal & Remembrance Day at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, July 28, 2014. Kehoe was part of a large brigade of landscapers who generously donated their time to honor America’s veterans by assisting with the care and maintenance of the grounds at Arlington National Cemetery.
An Army veteran, Kehoe spent 1 year in Iraq and lost many friends during combat. “I think about them everyday, especially when I’m doing something like this. It does help the healing process to go back and remember the great things that they did, and remember that they did die for something bigger, and better than us,” said Kehoe.
Valued at $250,000, the annual event draws hundreds of landscape and lawn care professionals from across the country to Arlington National Cemetery to spend the day mulching, pruning, upgrading sprinklers, planting, trimming, liming, cabling and installing lightning protection for trees, and aerating more than 200 acres of soil. The largest green industry day of service, 2013 marked the 17th anniversary of PLANET’s Renewal and Remembrance Day with more than $2 million donated to the care of the historic site to date.
“Our members look forward to this opportunity each year to give back to the individuals who gave their lives for their country,” said PLANET President Jim McCutcheon, Landscape Industry Certified. “We consider it a privilege to be able to volunteer our time and talents to such a worthwhile project.”
This year, PLANET partnered on the event with the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS), and the event’s Platinum sponsors Caterpillar, Inc. and New Holland Construction.
The LaurelRock Company proudly stands by its motto “Making A Positive Difference.” The company’s 4th Core Principle is to enhance, preserve, and give back by “Investing In The Community.” During the past year, The LaurelRock Company has actively participated in numerous community events including: donating to Near and Far Aid, working with the Wilton Family Y to redesign and improve their front sign area as part of PLANET’s 2014 Day of Service, donating $25,000 to PLANET’s Academic Excellence Foundation (AEF), and completing a one-week church mission with the Newtown Ecumenical Workcamp Servants in Biloxi, Mississippi.
