The Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort Announces Double Achievements on Food Safety Certifications
Continuing in their commitment to excellence, the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort is proud to announce ISO 22000:2005 and HACCP certifications.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 05, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Successfully sustaining HACCP Certification for last six years, Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resorts meets another milestone by achieving Food Safety Management System ISO 22000:2005 & HACCP certification this year. ISO 22000 incorporates HACCP principles and is compatible with ISO 9001 quality management systems, making it the ideal basis for implementing a comprehensive, cost effective food safety management system. The FSMS implementation & HACCP up gradation project were initiated in November last year with a slogan of “Promising & Delivering Safe Quality Food” and due to incessant effort of the food safety team members representing various departments, a wide range of training and competence development activities as well as continual support and commitment of the top management, Sheraton was able to achieve FSMS ISO certification in less than six months. The certificates were issued by TUV NORD Middle East and are valid for three years.
The consequences of unsafe food can be serious and ISO’s food safety management standards help organizations identify and control food safety hazards. As many of today's food products repeatedly cross national boundaries, International Standards are needed to ensure the safety of the global food supply chain. The ISO 22000 standard is based on HACCP but this is more comprehensive food safety system which embrace the crucial elements of the food chain like Interactive Hazard Communication, Management Responsibility; Resource Management, Planning and Realization of Safe Products; Validation, Verification and Improvement of the Food Safety Management System Operational Prerequisite & Pre Requisite, emergency preparedness & response plan, etc. It means ISO 22000:2005 connects the requirements of HACCP and QMS ISO 9001; it manages the quality assurance and food safety system, not only through processes, but also through the entire operational activities within an organization taking stewardship in pertaining global food safety standard.
“We are particularly proud to have obtained ISO 22000:2005 certification as well as be compliant with HACPP standards. Food safety is one of our top priorities. We will pursue our goal of having the best food safety management system in place,” says Dany Dagher, General Manager, Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort.
Both certifications are an important step in assuring that guests continue to receive the very best in food quality from Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort.
