Jeweleen T. Hartzfeld is the National Benefits Manger at 84 Lumber, the nation’s leading privately held building materials and services supplier to professional contractors and build-it-yourselfers. Hartzfeld has been with 84 Lumber since late 2008 where she is responsible for the design, implementation, and execution of the company’s benefits program; including self-funded medical, carved-out-prescription, dental, vision, and voluntary plans for over 3400 associates. Her main goal for the associates and the company has always been and continues to be having the ability to offer best coverage, at the most reasonable and competitive cost. Therefore, she and her team have been concentrating their efforts on the carrier’s contracts/financials, which has helped keep kept the cost of the prescription/medical trend down to an overall blended 5 year average rate of 1.02%. She has Marketed and renegotiated pharmacy benefits programs which generated a 15% reduction in pharmacy spend, conducted internal dependents audits with estimated savings of 400K, designed and implemented the leave of absence, FMLA/ASAAA policy, etc.

Prior to 84 Lumber, Hartzfeld has over ten years of experience in general human resources/ management. She has worked as a Human Resources Director at various short-term post-acute medical care and rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing facilities for HCR ManorCare (Pittsburgh Region) assisting in the implementation and design of an international nurses recruitment program, along with the development of an in-house Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program and became a regional trainer. She has also worked for one of the worlds’ largest semiconductor manufacturers, Leybold Vacuum USA, Inc., where she designed and implemented a performance compensation evaluation system which linked one’s annual increases to the company’s profits as they were rebuilding, Implemented online MSDS program, completed her accredited OSAH 501 Trainer by OSHA East Region, etc.

Hartzfeld holds a bachelor’s degree in business with minors in elementary educationand psychology from Geneva College. She also is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by the Society for Human Resource Management. She has been a member of the Westmoreland Human Resource Association where she has held the conference chair position on the board, as well as on United Way of Westmoreland’s Grant Disbursement Team.
