Lufft Expands Product Range by Optical Sensors
With two laser sensors, measurement and control technology company Lufft (located near Stuttgart, Germany) enlarges its product range from now on.
Fellbach, Germany, August 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- With two laser sensors, measurement and control technology company Lufft (located near Stuttgart, Germany) enlarges its product range from now on. In the category "optical sensors," Lufft provides the snow altimeter SHM 30 and the ceilometer CHM 15k and special designed software CHM Viewer. From October 2014 on, the new snow depth sensor SHM 50 will complement Lufft's product portfolio.
Development of snow depth sensor SHM 30
Within seconds, the compact laser sensor SHM30 accurately and reliably defines snow depths to the nearest millimetre until 10 metres. The optical measurement process is independent from temperature fluctuation and therefore has a great advantage compared to conventional ultrasonic sensors. With the advancement of the previous model SFM 30 to the snow depth sensor SHM 50, Lufft presents an improved measurement method in October 2014. The SHM 50 will be featured with a multi-point measurement device and three separated modules to avoid data loss. Hence, the snow altimeter is better assimilable to existing measurement networks. Another innovation is the data output in SDI-12 format and a calibration procedure, which can simultaneously equilibrate different devices. Up to now, the previous version SHM 30 has been used with different Lufft weather sensors in measurement networks attached to railways for high-speed trains in China. Besides, the snow depth sensor is used by weather services, as installations in the fields of road traffic, at airports as well as winter sports resorts.
Ceilometer CHM15k with its own data management software
Another product in the category "optical sensors" is the ceilometer CHM 15k. The laser sensor has an operating range of 15 kilometres and is capable of reliably detecting high cloud layers and cirrus clouds. The CHM 15k measures atmospheric parameters as for instance cloud height, height of boundary layers and visibility range. This year, Lufft presents the new Software to analyse collected data named "CHM Viewer". Besides conventional measurement data, the specially developed software can provide information about mixed layers, aerosol layers, cloud low limit as well as the internal ceiling.
A further facilitation for work is the integrated tools for error analysis and the presentation of device's status as for example temperature (internal-, external-, detector optics), status of laser and detector, noise, background light and the display of pollution degree concerning aperture plate. The data output of CHM Viewer is both available as raw data and as a rectified version.
After taking over the former Jenoptik product field of snow depth and ceiling sensors in April 2014, G. Lufft GmbH officially includes the innovative sensors as a new product category. Overall, further expansion of the new section "optical sensors" is planned in Berlin and the new development and advancement of already existing products.
About G. Lufft Mess- und Regeltechnik GmbH:
Since its inception by Gotthilf Lufft in 1881, G. Lufft GmbH has been the leader in the production of climatological measuring equipment. Lufft's capacity for innovation and precision has helped its products establish the solid reputation they enjoy around the world. The company's products can be found in use wherever variables such as air pressure, temperature, relative humidity and other environmental factors need to be measured. In line with its commitment to the company motto of "Tradition and Innovation," electronic products have now joined their mechanical ancestors and show the same Lufft quality in a digital age. Together with its subsidiaries in the U.S. and in China, the company has 95 employees. In November 2012, G. Lufft GmbH was awarded the German Standards Brand Prize and was named a "Brand of the Century". More information can be found at: www.lufft.com.
