WOU Now Offers Affordable Quality Full-Time Studies in Penang
Penang, Malaysia, August 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Both parents and students have much to rejoice as more opportunities now abound for school-leavers and diploma holders to pursue their studies since Wawasan Open University (WOU) started to offer full-time quality higher education at affordable cost at its scenic campus-by-the-sea in Penang.
WOU’s offering of full-time study commenced last September in support of parents who wish for their children to pursue degree studies closer to home in Penang. As a people’s university, WOU is continuously practising its charitable and socially inclusive philosophy to help school leavers and diploma holders to achieve their study dreams by offering financial support in the form of tuition fee rebates and also RM100 monthly study allowances for the duration of study of up to three years. Students stand to enjoy financial relief worth up to RM10,000 on their full-time study at WOU when they enrol in the September 2014 intake. This translates to a huge financial burden taken off the shoulders of parents and students in WOU.
WOU’s financial assistance underscores its social commitment to provide study opportunities to all Malaysians who have a desire to uplift themselves professionally through tertiary qualifications. In essence, WOU lowers the cost of higher education but maintains its quality offerings.
“I was drawn to the 30% fee rebates for full-time study. Since I was completing my diploma around that time, the timing was perfect for me to enrol and start my degree pathway,” said Kaavichitraa Amurthalingam from George Town, Penang, who is now into the third semester of her Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting programme at WOU.
Kaavichitraa, who holds a Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting), prefers to study in Penang rather than being far away from home. “I have surveyed numerous universities offering Accounting degrees and the course syllabus for full-time study at WOU suits my needs,” she added.
WOU’s full-time students are taught by qualified and experienced lecturers, who have already proven their skills from teaching in the ODL environment, and are adequately supported by student-centred learning facilities.
“The campus is super awesome as it is located by the seaside. I love the sight and sound of the waves as it gives me peace of mind. The digital library connects students to an extensive network of resources to offer a much broader understanding,” she elaborated.
“The lectures are fantastic in helping me to study to become an Accountant,” said Kaavichitraa, ever thankful to WOU’s quicker pathway towards realising her ambition. This is because WOU’s full-time Accounting degree is recognised by Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia), Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
WOU’s full-time degree offerings include the popular Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Management and Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting. Meanwhile, WOU is all set to introduce two more new programmes – Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Marketing and Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Banking & Finance - very soon.
Enrolment is now in progress. To apply for the full-time degree programmes, students must possess a minimum of two Principals in STPM/A-Levels or at least five grades B in UEC Senior Middle II or Diploma/Foundation/Matriculation or equivalent qualifications.
School-leavers and parents should check out the full-time study at WOU as the first 100 students to register will receive attractive fee rebates and study allowances.
