Clark Hipolito Donates "Red Abstract" to Art Auction to Benefit the Severely Disabled

Greensboro, NC, October 25, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Raleigh artist Clark Hipolito has donated an original painting to the inaugural dinner and art auction to benefit the Gatewood Center and Greensboro/Thomasville Group Homes for severely disabled children and adults. The event will take place at Café Pasta Grille in downtown Greensboro on November 5 from 5 to 9 p.m.

The painting, entitled “Red Abstract” (acrylic on canvas), is “an exploration of color, texture and movement,” according to the artist. It will be auctioned to the highest bidder along with original work by other North Carolina artists including Bob Timberlake and Dempsey Essick. Gatewood residents’ originally pottery will also be up for auction.

Born in 1970 in Connecticut, Clark Hipolito grew up in southern New Jersey and attended Seton Hall University, where he studied both design and business administration. During those years, he worked as a freelance artist and completed several design internships. After graduating, he began working at MTV networks in New York where he acquired a broader scope of art and design talents.

In 1994, Hipolito moved to Raleigh, NC, and founded The Art Company, Inc., an interdisciplinary firm specializing in various phases of interior design including original murals and specialty finishes. His mural commissions range from residential to major commercial applications, including a large mural at the RBC Center in Raleigh for the Carolina Hurricane’s hockey team.

The artist’s fine art has appeared on television shows such as HBO’s “Sex & The City” and Warner Brother’s “Dawson’s Creek” and “One Tree Hill.” Recently, his collection of original hand-painted, wood-grain surfboards was featured in gallery exhibitions and in Waterfront Homes & Design magazine.

Gatewood and the group homes are part of the RHA Howell network of residential facilities that provide care, education, and the opportunity for a meaningful life for people with disabilities, many of whom have complicating medical concerns. Tickets for the fundraising event are $12 for take-out lunches at Cafe Pasta Grill and $25 for the evening’s buffet dinner and art auction, which will feature live jazz entertainment and a cash bar.
