Career Step Medical Coding Training on Track for New ICD-10 Implementation Date
Career Step is pleased to announce that its Professional Medical Coding and Billing curriculum is on track to have students prepared for the newly announced October 1, 2105 ICD-10 implementation date.
Provo, UT, August 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, is pleased to announce that its Professional Medical Coding and Billing curriculum is on track to have students prepared for the newly announced October 1, 2105 ICD-10 implementation date.
“When the mandated ICD-10 implementation date was delayed until October 2015, one of our primary concerns was for our students who were currently training for medical coding careers and how it would impact their career plans,” said Jerolyn Robertson, Career Step Vice President of Academics. “We responded quickly to ensure our students would still be prepared for the workplace they would be entering. With the announcement of the new implementation date last week, we are pleased to confirm that our training will prepare students to begin working before and after the implementation of the new code sets.”
Career Step’s Professional Medical Coding and Billing program teaches students how to use the CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9 codes sets. Then, upon graduation, students receive an additional ICD-10 FastTrack course that teaches them to code with the new ICD-10 code set. This two-step approach prepares students to earn industry certifications—even if they graduate before the exams are transitioned to ICD-10—and to help with any dual coding their employer may be doing before or after the implementation.
“Our commitment remains first and foremost to our students,” said Career Step CEO Steve Tober. “We understand the significant investment in time and additional training as our students are working toward their career goals. We have done everything we can to ensure that all of our students are prepared for the workplace—no matter which code set is in use.”
The medical coding and billing training available through Career Step teaches students everything they need to know about healthcare and coding to successfully start a new career. The online program can be completed in as little as four months, and students have access to one-on-one support throughout the course as well as after graduation as they are working to turn their education into a job.
