Dolly Parton Surprises Packed Audience with Remote Appearance in Kingstree, South Carolina

Dolly Parton introduced Jacob Timmons to kick off the 1st Annual Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Benefit Concert which proved to be a huge success and raised thousands for the early childhood literacy program.

Kingstree, SC, October 25, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Months of hard work finally paid off this past Sunday October 21, 2007. A committed team of hard working individuals ranging from church organizations, to small businesses and from grandparents to politicians finally got to see their hard work pay off when Dolly Parton kicked off the 1st Annual Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Benefit Concert at the Kingstree Recreation Center in Kingstree, South Carolina.

South Carolinians were roaring with excitement and applause Sunday night as Dolly Parton kicked off the 1st annual benefit concert in South Carolina to raise funding and awareness for her early childhood literacy program, “Dolly’s Imagination Library” via video remote. Although her appearance had been mentioned in marketing, many that attended had no idea Dolly was scheduled to appear. Jacob Timmons took the stage and wow’d the crowd along with Dolly’s brother, Randy Parton, niece, Heidi Lou Parton, Ryan Morris and The Moonlight Bandits. The show was packed with country, pop, jazz, rock, gospel and even patriotic music as well as exclusive video produced for Randy Parton’s show in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

The rural town of Kingstree, South Carolina welcomed thousands of people from around the world this weekend for their 35th Annual Pig Pickin’ festival. Attendance neared 40,000 for the 4 day event which featured the 1st annual Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Benefit Concert as the grand finale.

All seats were filled, bleachers were brought in for additional seating, the kids carnival was in full swing and while the concert kicked off at 7pm, cars were lined up around the recreation park waiting on their chance to see the show.

The people of Kingstree now have something to be proud of. I mean this new event pulled people from all areas of the United states, heck even people form Canada came to see us Sunday night. With the 1st Annual Imagination Library Benefit Concert being such as success, planning for the 2008 event is already underway. DVD Video recordings of Sunday night’s event are available for those who wish to make at $25 (or more) donation to the Williamsburg County Imagination Library or any other Imagination Library community in the country.
