“There are thousands of Coloradans who qualify for disability benefits, but don’t receive them for months after their initial application,” said T.H. Mack, Sr. a member of the LPAG committee. “LPAG’s objective is to raise funds that will help remove the obstacles and help people with disabilities gain the benefits they need. These benefits can change the quality of their lives forever."
LPAG is a group appointed by the Governor under the Department of Motor Vehicles. Representatives from the Department of Revenue, the Disability Benefit Contract Committee (DBSCC), Governor's Office of Information Technology and the Colorado State Patrol also make up the group. LPAG is authorized by the Laura Hershey Disability-Benefit Support Act to raise money for the Disability Benefit Support Fund.
-- According to a 2011 report by the Colorado Health Foundation, up to 80,000 Coloradans qualify for SSI, SSDI and MLTC benefits but do not receive them. The Disability Benefit Support Fund will help many of these Coloradans access these benefits.
-- Helping these people gain access to benefits will potentially save Colorado taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.
The live event takes place on August 21, 2014 starting at 6pm at History Colorado. Tickets can be purchased at ColoradoPlates.com. To learn more about LPAG, the live auction event, or the legislation around LPAG, please visit www.ColoradoPlates.com.
