Elizabeth, NJ, August 19, 2014 --(PR.com)-- On Tuesday, July 29, Joanne Rajoppi, Union County Clerk presented a generous donation to The Gateway Family YMCA’s Annual Support Campaign. The donation, which was presented to Krystal R. Canady, CEO, Melynda A. Mileski, EVP/COO, Calvin Sierra, YMCA Board of Directors and Joseph Venezia, Board Chair of The Gateway Family YMCA, will provide funding to the Y’s financial assistance program for membership, programs and services.
Every day, The Gateway Family YMCA works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues. The Gateway Family YMCA uses financial gifts to help individuals and families in need participate in programs such as: Early Learning Readiness - school readiness, Diabetes Prevention Program - chronic disease prevention, employment skills training, teen leadership programs, supportive housing, and social services in Elizabeth, Rahway and Union. “As a charity, we ‘re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors,” stated Krystal R. Canady, CEO of The Gateway Family YMCA.
The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. From Exercise to Education, from Health to Housing, from Volleyball to Volunteerism, from Preschool to Preventive Health, the Y doesn’t just strengthen bodies– it strengthens people, families and communities. “We rely on the support of the community to enable us to continue to provide the services our neighbors so greatly need,” stated Melynda A. Mileski, EVP/COO of The Gateway Family YMCA, “Community donations allow us to provide programs and services to a larger population who may not have had an opportunity to benefit otherwise.”
