The 7th Annual Hawaii Horse Expo returns to the Paniolo Heritage Center at the historic Pukalani Stables on August 22 to 24 in Waimea.
Kamuela, HI, August 21, 2014 --(PR.com)-- On the Year of the Horse, the 7th Annual Hawaii Horse Expo returns to the Paniolo Heritage Center at the historic Pukalani Stables in Waimea on the Big Island this August 22 to 24.
Proceeds of the annual benefit event go to the Humane Society’s Horse Rescue Fund, they help abused and abandoned horses on the island, as well as the Paniolo Preservation Society, which works to preserve and promote the heritage of the Hawaiian cowboy.
A highlight of this year’s expo is an Equine Medicine Symposium, where distinguished clinicians will discuss such topics as horsemanship, equine nutrition, effective stockmanship, and low-stress cattle handling. The roster of speakers includes respected Hawaii Island veterinarian Dr. Brady Bergin, author and award-winning Hawaiian and western saddle maker Pete Gorrell, popular host of RFD TV’s The Horse Show, Rick Lamb, renowned equine behaviorist, author and lecturer Dr. Robert Miller.
Aside from the clinics led by these experts, the horse expo will feature colorful pa’u riders and a traditional Hawaiian blessing of the horses, and a silent auction. Moreover, horse enthusiasts will be able to access various medical and nutritional information and programs, a saddle making demonstration, and a wide array of equine products and services.
“Horsemanship has always been a favored sport in Waimea, with its rolling hills and the majestic views of the meadows, the Pacific Ocean, and the forests. The horse expo is certainly a lovely opportunity to experience this paniolo or Hawaiian cowboy vibe firsthand,” shared Harold Clarke, the award-winning luxury real estate expert who is also the founder of LuxuryBigIsland.com and owner of Windermere/C and H Properties.
Truly, Waimea is known for its distinct landscape lying on the heart of the Big Island. Its lush pastures are home to cattle and rodeos, and its higher altitude provides it a cooler, cowboy-friendly climate. Making it even more attractive to outdoorsy families is the neighborhood’s proximity to topnotch golf courses such as the Mauna Kea Resort Golf Course and Hapuna Prince Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones and Arnold Palmer, respectively.
Attendees may avail of tax deduction for their ticket purchase, and of the special rates at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. For further details about the event, email hawaiihorseexpo@gmail.com or visit HawaiiHorseExpo.com.
