Michael D. Barker Recognized by Strathmore's Who's Who Worldwide Publication

About Michael D. Barker
Captain Barker is retired after 31 years in the military field. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Navy which is the naval warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces. He was the Commanding Officer of numerous ships, including a Special Operations Amphibious Squadron ONE, consisting of 5 ships, 2600 naval personnel and over 3000 U.S. Marines. His Squadron departed San Diego, California on November 1, 1990 and returned home on August 28, 1991. During this deployment, his Squadron saw action during the First Gulf War. Captain Barker is affiliated with the American Legion, D.A.V. , V.F.W. and several other post military organizations. He was born in Ada, Oklahoma and obtained a B.S./B.A. in Engineering and Petroleum Marketing, a M.S. in Strategic Planning, a M.S. in Information Systems Telecommunications, a M.A. in International Relations and worked on his Ph.D. in Religious History. In his spare time he enjoys fishing with his wife of over 50 years. Captain Barker and his wife are the parents of Krysta Lynn Nix and Kara Beth LaRosa. The family consists of four grandsons. The oldest grandson, Andrew Michael LaRosa will be sworn into the Navy on December 16, 2014. Interestingly, Captain Barker was commissioned on December 16, 1966.
