Life in the Arts 2014 Featuring Dressler Smith and Area Art Students at the Union League of Philadelphia on October 18th Precedes the 8th World Meeting of Families 2015

Renowned local artist, Dressler Smith, will be the keynote speaker for the Saturday, October 18th edutainment affair. Ms. Smith will share with luncheon attendees about her life and career in art and a book launch, in addition to how spiritual art has been conveyed in past and present-day culture. Also, Imagine - the Dance Theater of Camden, and Michael D. Hogue, Cathedral Basilica musician will speak and perform. Miss Freedom Forge 2014, Lauren Johns, University of the Arts senior, is in charge of student outreach.

The 8th ­­­­World Meeting of Families scheduled for September 22-27, 2015 in Philadelphia is expected to attract one million event goers comparing the previous Milan, Italy event in June 2012. Steve Bozza, Director of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office for Life and Family, with other program board members from the civic community, wanted to see more family and student involvement in fundraising for the triennial program in Philadelphia while benefiting area art students by selecting winning entries for art exhibition during an entertaining luncheon at the Union League.

Students may submit art entries up until September 15th. A panel of prestigious art professionals will adjudicate the art exhibition competition. From 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, there will be a silent auction of student art, followed by the luncheon from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
