Glenview, IL, August 29, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Greg Bedell announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the 15th District of the Illinois General Assembly, a seat currently held by Democrat John D’Amico. The legal challenge that was brought to keep him off the ballot was dismissed so now residents of the 15th district, whether they are Republican, Democratic or Independent, will finally have a choice in their candidate selection after 10 years without.
When asked for comment Greg said: “The State of Illinois needs a new direction under new leadership. Incumbent Rep. D’Amico is part of the Madigan machine that has driven Illinois to high unemployment, one of the lowest job creation rates in the country and one of the worst financial conditions of any state in the Union. Illinois is in a downward spiral that has to stop. The People of Illinois deserve better.”
Making Illinois better has become the focal point for Mr. Bedell’s campaign. He believes that the road to recovery for Illinois begins with a focus on three priorities:
1) - Protect people’s income and don’t raise taxes
2) -Provide choice for children’s education
3) -Use common sense to serve people’s interest, not special interests
A 1982 graduate of the College of the University of Chicago, Greg has been practicing law in Chicago since 1985. Greg is a common sense problem solver who has consistently helped individuals and small businesses solve their problems. Greg helped owners start many of the businesses he represents and has worked closely with them as they grew. Early in his career, Greg received a Distinguished Service Award from the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services organization as he worked with less fortunate individuals, helping them face the challenges presented by drug abuse, debt and broken homes. He has served on the Board of Directors of Operation Homefront-Illinois, which helps the families of deployed service personnel and wounded warriors and is currently a Director of the Federalist Society, Chicago Lawyer’s chapter.
Greg is a resident of Glenview, Illinois, where he lives with his wife Jennifer, his daughter Yvonne, his son Connor and their adopted rescue greyhound, Amos. Active in his community, Greg volunteers with various local organizations trying to make a difference for the people and interests they serve. Lloyd Kuehn, Glenview Citizen of the Year 2011 and Sr Vice Commander American Legion Post 166 recently shared his view, “I first met Greg when he was circulating his petitions to run for State Representative. Since then, I’ve known him through the Glenview Chamber of Commerce. He’s an honest, hard working guy who knows the issues and cares about the people of this area. And, he knows the third verse to the Marine Corp Hymn! He’ll make a great representative.”
“I am looking forward to bringing my experience and common sense to Springfield, “ Greg added. “The people of this district and Illinois deserve better. “Early voting by mail begins August 6th, and in person October 20th, with final voting on November 4th 2014.
