SGS New Webinar: Allergen Management – Industry Practices, Label Control and Prevention
Geneva, Switzerland, August 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Food allergies are on the rise. Concerned consumers, retailers and governmental inspectors are more and more concerned about an increasing allergen risk in food production and inconsistent allergen communication. The objective of this joint SGS / METTLER TOLEDO webinar (45-minute presentation / 15-minute Q&A) is to present the results of the SGS industry survey on challenges, needs and gaps in allergen management and to discover how appropriate weighing solutions and services can help you to reduce allergen and mislabeling risk and to optimize communication on allergen risks to consumers.
Agenda
Background to food allergens and intolerance
SGS survey on industry challenges, needs and gaps in allergen management and control
Traceability, Identification points in raw material handling
Post production label control with Vision Inspection
Hygienic designed equipment as part of key cleaning principles
Retail solutions for clear consumer information
Background
Allergen management requires an integrated approach and effective communication of allergen information throughout the supply chain. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) assume the development and implementation of a prevention plan, so that the presence of critical allergens in the final product is prevented. HACCP plans aim to identify the critical points in a product’s manufacture where additional measures can be taken to minimize the presence of allergens in the final product. In the event that HACCP and GMP practices suggest that the implementation of those additional measures may not be enough to exclude the risk of cross contamination, then appropriate action must be taken. METTLER TOLEDO offers different weighing and service solutions that help to increase traceability, prevent label mixing and provide clear allergen label information according to actual label regulations.
