Road to 2015 World Barista Championship Kicks Off as Philippine National Barista Championship Opens Competitor Registration
2nd Philippine National Barista Championship is set from October 15 to 17. Grand winner to officially represent the Philippines to the 2015 World Barista Championship, the pre-eminent international coffee competition, in Seattle, U.S.A.
Manila, Philippines, August 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Allegro Beverage Corporation, official organizers of the 2nd Philippine National Barista Championship (PNBC), the most prestigious barista competition in the country, announces today that registration to the 2014 competition is now open and ongoing. The 2nd Philippine National Barista Championship takes place October 15 to 17 --- preliminary rounds are set on October 15 and 16 at Treston International College in Fort Bonifacio Global City, Taguig while finals are set on October 17 at Resorts World Manila in Newport Boulevard, Pasay City.
“The road to the 2015 World Barista Championship is a very challenging task and we are in search of this year’s most qualified Filipino Barista to represent our country to the most prestigious coffee-making competition in the world,” says Mr. Leo de Leon, President and General Manager of Allegro Beverage Corporation. “The 2nd Philippine National Barista Championship celebrates the skills and craftsmanship of the country’s professional Baristas and we encourage them to register and join the competition,” adds Mr. de Leon.
To compete in the 2nd Philippine National Barista Championship, entrants must complete the online registration through the official competition website www.philippinenationalbaristachampionship.com. The first thirty (30) online registrants will get a slot at the preliminary rounds. The top six (6) scorers from the preliminary rounds will move to the finals and will vie for the most coveted Barista title of 2nd Philippine National Barista Champion.
During the competition, each competitor must prepare four espressos, four cappuccinos, and four original non-alcoholic espresso-based signature beverages of their own creation and serve them to a panel of four PNBC Certified Sensory Judges, all within a 15-minute timeframe. Two PNBC Certified Technical Judges will score competitors on procedures, consistency, cleanliness and other technical details. One WBC Certified Judge will oversee the judging panel and ensure that each competitor has been fairly scored by the judges.
