The Better Booze Festival Gives a Whole New Meaning to Drinking Responsibly
New York, NY, September 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Better Booze Festival, New York City's first alcohol festival for the conscientious drinker, is launching Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Center 548 in Manhattan. Presented by U.S. Veg Corp, the force behind such ground-breaking events as the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival, the Better Booze Festival is "Better" than all the other alcohol festivals in that all products featured are 100% vegan.
"I was initially surprised to learned that some alcohol contain ingredients that are not considered vegan and, as I polled many bartenders and friends, it was overwhelmingly evident that I wasn't alone in this misconception," said co-founder Nira Paliwoda. "Even more exasperating is that alcohol companies are not required to list ingredients on their labels, so making informed decisions on what drink to order can't be done without a bit of independent research." With the help of Barnivore.com, the Better Booze Festival will dispell some of the mystery by showcasing a carefully curated variety of artisan beer, wine, cider and spirits, all free of any ingredients derived from animals. Attendees will enjoy a choice of two sessions of drinking, vegan food pairings, fun social activities, and lessons from liquor industry veterans.
This event is for everyone interested in good libations, good food and good times, not just vegan/vegetarians interested in learning about what brands are out there to try. “Sometimes vegetarians are more focused on the food on their plates than the drinks in their glasses,” said co-founder Sarah Gross. “They don’t realize that dairy elements might be swimming around down there.” She added that during the filtering phase, distillers might use fish bladders, gelatin, and egg whites, among other vegetarian taboos.
A sampling of brands that will be represented are Czechvar, Daura, Original Sin Cider, Element Beer, Estrella Damm, Balls Vodka, Gun Hill Brewing, Kuka Beer, Long Trail, New Planet, North Coast Brewing Company, Otter Creek, Phoenix Beehive, Shed Vermont, The Beyond Brewing Company, Catoctin Creek Spirits, Down East Cider, Fair Vodka and Whitecliff Vineyard.
The V-Spot, Eat Well Embrace Life, Rescue Chocolate, and Champ’s are among the edibles curated to pair appropriately with the drinks. As an added bonus, Rescue Chocolate plans a new product launch during the festival. Attendees will be able to sample and purchase the just-introduced Calico Coconut Rum mini chocolate bars.
Besides having fun learning about "Better Booze" this event also appeals to the socially conscious. Green Mountain Energy, The American Street Cat, and Animal Aid USA will all be present to raise awareness for their respective causes. A portion of the proceeds of the Better Booze Festival will be going to help Animal Aid USA.
