2014 Marlborough Works! initiative connects local companies with local jobseekers.
Marlborough, MA, September 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is preparing to host its largest Marlborough Works! Job Fair yet on October 7th, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm at the Courtyard by Marriott-Marlborough Ballroom.
Big newcomers, like GE Healthcare, Quest Diagnostics, SanDisk, and RXi Pharmaceuticals, will be looking for qualified applicants alongside returning top employers, like Boston Scientific, Ken’s Foods, Marlborough Hospital and Weetabix. Joining them will be dozens of other companies representing various industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality, retail, biotech, education, defense, banking, sales, marketing, and alternative energy.
Ahead of the fair, the MEDC will also host two free seminars to help local jobseekers develop winning résumés on paper and online. The Résumé Development Workshop will take place on September 23rd from 1:00pm to 4:30pm at the Embassy Suites. The LinkedIn Workshop will be held on September 30th from 6pm to 8:30pm at the same location.
While the job fair is open to all area jobseekers, the workshops are offered exclusively to Marlborough residents, and spaces are limited to the first 30 respondents. Workshop attendees will also receive priority admission and first access to employers at the job fair.
Participants can find all Marlborough Works! details and registration information at www.marlboroughedc.com/marlboroughworks.
Mayor Arthur Vigeant introduced the Marlborough Works! initiative in 2012 to help jumpstart local employment.
"We are grateful to be building upon Mayor Vigeant's and the City Council's vision to connect Marlborough's employers with local jobseekers," said the MEDC Executive Director, Tim Cummings. "This year, we are excited to have the strongest lineup of employers to-date, which has a lot to do with the steady rise of economic activity in the city. We’ve added some very large players to Marlborough’s growing business community, and we look forward to putting our local residents to work at those companies.”
Last year’s fair saw some 400 jobseekers looking to fill close to 300 positions at 35 participating companies.
