Bartlett Nature Center to Host 5K Walk for Peace
In celebration of World Peace Day, Play for Peace and Bartlett Nature Center are hosting a 5K Walk for Peace.
Chicago, IL, September 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Play for Peace announced it will present its annual World Peace Day Celebration on September 21st from 11am to 3pm at the Bartlett Nature Center on 2054 W. Stearns Road. The event will coincide with celebrations around the world commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the United Nations International Day of Peace.
Family-friendly activities will include a 5K Nature Walk for Peace, animals, music, crafts, face painting, cooperative play activities, an International Food Festival, a silent auction and more. Those who register for the walk at http://playforpeace.donorpages.com/WPDC2014/ will receive an event t-shirt, and a wrist-band for food and activities. The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for kids (3 and under free). Walking trails are also stroller accessible and dog friendly.
The Bartlett Nature Center is open to the public and free activities will be provided by the U.S. Coast Guard, Bartlett Fire and Police Departments, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, SCARCE, Clean Air Bus, and more. The International Food Festival will also be available to those not registered for a donation along with other crafts and activities.
All proceeds from the event will support Play for Peace, a non-profit organization that brings together children, youth and organizations from communities in conflict, using cooperative play to create laughter, compassion and peace.
