Free Urban Vermiculture Open House

Come down and see the worms.

Chicago, IL, September 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Nature's Little Recyclers, the Urban Vermiculture pioneers operating in Chicago's “Back of the Yards” neighborhood, are inviting their neighbors, urban farmers, green tech entrepreneurs, and all others who may be interested in how worms can be grown in a factory setting, to an open house at their facility at 1111 W. 48th Street. They will be hosting the event over two days, from 12-6pm on Friday, September 12th, and from 10am-4pm on Saturday, September 13th.

Visitors to the open house will see how Nature’s Little Recyclers is making a difference with the “greening of Chicago.” This all-ages event will provide a look at what a million earthworms can do to reduce the amount of waste heading to already stressed landfills. Partnering with a number of local businesses, the NLR worms have already processed many tons of waste, while producing top-quality natural fertilizer for growers across the city.

The open house will feature tours to explain the worm operation throughout the day, along with demonstrations on how to start one's own home composting. This will be a chance to learn everything you ever wanted to know about earthworms … and possibly more. Nature's Little Recyclers invites all to come down and learn about Chicago’s emerging “green tech” sector, and how this drives Chicago’s growth as a sustainable community.
