Bay Pointe Ballet Announces New Hires and Promotions for 2014/15 Season

South San Francisco, CA, September 13, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Bay Pointe Ballet Artistic Director Bruce Steivel has released the roster of artists that will carry Bay Pointe Ballet into its second season. In June the company held its annual auditions seeking talent to fill open positions. Among the new hires include Principal artists Gregori Arakelyan, formerly Nevada Ballet Theatre; Nathan Cottam, formerly Serbia National Ballet; and Jonathan Dummar, formerly Smuin and Joffrey Ballet. Artists Katya Duncan, TraeVontae Greer, Stephen Hallburn, Felicia McPhee, Constanza Murphy, Carlos Narvaez-Duran and John Segundo join as members of the corps de ballet. Artist Shaina Leibson, formerly Ballet San Jose, has been promoted to Soloist. Also joining Artistic Staff is Grant Spencer, former artist with Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, Company C and Sacramento Ballet, who will assume the position of Ballet Master.

Bay Pointe Ballet’s season line up will begin with Bruce Steivel’s Peter Pan, November 1 & 2 at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. Armenian born Principal Gregori Arakelyan will star as Peter Pan and the ballet will feature aerial acts and an original score by composer Thomas E. Semanski. Following Peter Pan will be holiday season favorite, The Nutcracker, December 6 & 7 at Reno’s Grand Sierra Resort and December 13, 14, 20 & 21 at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. The company will return to the San Mateo Performing Arts Center February 21 & 22 for the classic comedy ballet, Coppelia. Bay Pointe Ballet will then close out its 2014/15 season in the spring with its second annual New Works Series performance, which features new ballets by up and coming choreographers.

Bay Pointe Ballet, in its second season, is led by internationally acclaimed choreographer and director Bruce Steivel. Prior to Bay Pointe Ballet, Bruce Steivel served as Artistic Director at several major companies around the globe including Bern Stadt Theatre, Hong Kong Ballet, Universal Ballet of Korea, Nevada Ballet Theatre and Serbian National Ballet. Bay Pointe Ballet, featuring 30 professional dancers, performs locally and tours regionally and aims to provide accessible family-friendly dance performances to the Bay Area and the Western United States.
