Charmingly Sincere Web Series About Dating in Your Twenties Takes Taboo Topic of PTSD Head on with Screening at Public Library
A public screening of the Things Left Unsaid web series, episodes one and two, will bring living with PTSD to the forefront of discussion at the September 18th Oxnard Public Library Event.
Los Angeles, CA, September 20, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The screening of two episodes of the Things Left Unsaid web series at Oxnard Public Library brings the subject of PTSD to the forefront of discussion.
Brainchild of the team of Last Call Films, including genre-bending author A. Wrighton, producer Sean Ward, and director Anthony King, the Things Left Unsaid web series tells the story of a hipster girl with plenty of baggage taking on an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran with PTSD and baggage of his own. Spurred together by a mutual friend, the unlikely couple take on dating and coping in a sincere yet funny rendition of what it means to have reach adulthood in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Focusing on the inner thoughts of the main characters, Things Left Unsaid sheds light on what it’s like to be living with PTSD and just how hard it is to fit into to a world that is no longer as safe as our parents wanted it to be.
The Oxnard Public Library screening will be the first time viewers will be able to see the entire second episode of Things Left Unsaid, which was crowdfunded using IndieGoGo last year. The screening is available due to the Oxnard Public Library winning a grant from Cal Humanities: War Comes Home and is part of a series of events at the library. Near and dear to the entire cast and crew behind the web series, Benjamin Elterman, a writer on the series, screenwriter, and playwright, and lead actor Johnathan Hurley, an actual veteran with PTSD and actor from award-winning independent film Echo Dr., will be on hand to answer questions after the viewing of both episode one and two.
“It’s just a story that people of all ages need to see to understand,” co-creator and writer A. Wrighton said. “We wanted to handle this topic in a fun yet poignant way. I think that between the amazing actors, solid scripts, and voice overs with revealing inner thoughts, we’ve made something special. I still can’t get over how many thank you notes the cast & crew have received. It’s inspiring.”
The Things Left Unsaid web series screening will occur at the Oxnard Public Library Main Branch as a free event Thursday, September 18th at 4:30pm and conclude with a Q&A session for the production members on hand at the event. Information about the location of the library and the screening can be found at: http://oxnardlibrary.net.
