Local Practice, Seeking Shalom, Seeks Grant to Expand Innovative Affordable Mental Health Program in the Bronx

Local mental health practice, Seeking Shalom (www.SeekingShalom.org) integrates client's spirituality into mental health care. Their program, Journey to Peace, offers therapy sessions at complete fees equal or cheaper than typical copays to reduce barriers to mental health in the Bronx. They seek support to get a grant to expand.

Bronx, NY, October 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Local Business, Seeking Shalom, needs support to advance to the next stage to get a $150K Grant from Mission Main StreetSM Grants to grow an innovative affordable mental health project in the Bronx by voting online before October 17.

Seeking Shalom, a local mental health practice specializing in incorporating client’s spirituality into counseling and therapy, has applied for a $150,000 grant from Chase as part of a newly launched program, Mission Main StreetSM Grants. Seeking Shalom has submitted a questionnaire outlining a business plan that will result in growth of the business and still has to receive at least 250 votes to be eligible for a grant. Customers, fans and community members can show support for Seeking Shalom by voting at https://www.missionmainstreetgrants.com/business/detail/27797 using Facebook Connect.

The voting deadline is October 17, 2014 and grant recipients will be selected by expert panelists. Seeking Shalom is striving to provide a sustainable base for its Journey to Peace program launched this summer that provides counseling and therapy sessions for the full fee of $30, an amount that is equivalent to or less than many copays required of insurances. “Receiving this grant would provide the resources necessary for Seeking Shalom to continue offering these services in the Bronx where the general trend is the closing of mental health care services rather than the initiation of new programs. Everyone deserves affordable access to care that can provide them with mental health,” said the Rev. Christopher L. Smith, Clinical Director of Seeking Shalom.

Through Mission Main Street Grants, Chase will award $3 million to small business across America. All businesses that apply for a grant and meet the eligibility requirements will receive a special offer from Premier Sponsor, Google. In addition, the 20 grant recipients will be eligible to receive a trip to Google for an exclusive small business marketing workshop with Google experts and a Google Chromebook laptop.

The 20 grant recipients will be announced in January 2015. Consumers can show support by voting for Seeking Shalom at https://www.missionmainstreetgrants.com/business/detail/27797 using Facebook Connect before the voting deadline on October 17, 2014.
