Permuted Press Publishes First Book in New Sci-Fi Epic
"Torrance," from Bestselling Author Tom Calen Hits e-Bookstores Today
Franklin, CT, September 24, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Permuted Press, the leading publisher of zombie and horror fiction, today announced the publication of "Torrance," Book One of Scars of Tomorrow written by Tom Calen, author of the bestselling series The Pandemic Sequence. The story is set over one hundred years in the future and focuses on the harsh control of a one-world government and the global citizens it dominates through both force and guile. "Torrance" is the first book in a series. Permuted Press will publish the sequel, The Ignota, in October 2014.
From the Back Cover:
In 2163 C.E., the absolute power of the Global Alliance is beginning to unravel. The first threads tugged are small, but possess the potential to undo the tapestry—a tapestry woven two millennia ago in deep shadow and bloody conspiracy. Few remember its origin, and none know the role one man will play. A man who would become both savior and enslaver. A man from the woods. A man named Torrance.
Michael L. Wilson, president of Permuted Press, expressed excitement for both Torrance and the small press’s exploration of a new genre. “Permuted is known as the premier publisher of zombie and post-apocalyptic fiction. But, we are looking to expand our horizons. Tom’s The Pandemic Sequence was an Amazon bestseller in both horror and in science-fiction series,” Wilson said. “We think 'Torrance' and the future books in the Scars of Tomorrow series fit perfectly into our genre expansion. Readers have made it clear they enjoy Tom Calen’s work, and they won’t be disappointed in 'Torrance'. Tom really delivered an exciting epic.”
“Pure science-fiction is a bit of a departure for me, but I am really proud of this saga,” stated author Tom Calen. “In 'Torrance', we get a look at a future where some of the most sinister conspiracies theories of our time turn out to be true. The readers who enjoyed my horror series did so because of the characters. If they venture into this dystopian future with me, I know they will find characters to love, and characters they will love to hate.”
Permuted Press was established in 2004 with a modest goal: to produce a single, high-quality zombie anthology titled The Undead. From this simple goal grew a publishing company that has published over 80 titles targeting the apocalyptic, post-apocalyptic, and survival horror fiction markets. Permuted Press has relied heavily on the power of the internet and advances in publishing technology to establish itself as one of the best known publishers in the apocalyptic niche.
Tom Calen is the author of the bestselling horror series The Pandemic Sequence, as well as the dystopian future series The Scars of Tomorrow. His books, "The Tilian Virus" and "The Tilian Effect" reached #1 on Amazon’s bestselling science-fiction series list, and was the #1 Hot New Release in both horror and science-fiction. A New York City native, Tom holds a degree in English and worked in the business world before abandoning all reason and deciding to write full-time. He currently lives in Nicaragua, where he is working on his seventh book.
