Lafayette, LA, October 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Immersive Learning Environments for Global Businesses
The importance of effective safety training in hazardous work environments is imperative to ensuring immunity from accidents, specifically in the oil and gas industry in Acadiana. That is why Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise (LITE), a leader in immersive simulation training programs with its inventive Immersive Virtual Learning Environments (IVLE), and Frank’s International, a public company dedicated to incorporating contemporary technology, have partnered to create an immersive safety training program for Frank’s International employees.
Trainees are disconnected from real world experiences through textbooks and PowerPoint presentations. Immersive training offers real-time true-to-life scenarios that trainees can practice on that is replicated in form and function, turning passive learners into active, engaged participants. Not only is this type of training immersive, but it can also be flexible and updated immediately when new regulations are enacted.
“There have been many changes in the last decade in technology; including the use and implementation of gamification and simulation training for businesses. LITE is unique in that we were able to realize the full potential of gaming for use in oil and gas training and are able to provide learning environments that closely match reality,” stated Paula Phillips Carson, Interim CEO, LITE. “We are able to virtually recreate any learning environment, essentially immersing employees in the training.”
In November 2013, both companies agreed to collaborate on the development of an IVLE training program for use by Frank’s International employees on bail rigging and identifying unsafe hazards that occur in the process. As part of that partnership the LITE product development team designed an immersive game-based simulation training program that has been distributed to Frank’s International employees around the world.
“As training professionals in the oil and gas industry, we must be forward thinkers and invest in technology to support the safety and development of personnel,” stated Jacke West, Training Director, Frank’s International. “That is why Frank’s International is working with LITE to ensure our training is engaging, beneficial and effective.”
Frank’s International has long been one of the leading oil and gas companies in safety standards and adopting emerging technologies. Since deploying the Frank’s International Immersive Training (FIIT) to its more than 4,000 employees around the world, the immediate feedback coupled with the effectiveness of the training program have been overwhelmingly positive and reinforced the benefits of simulation training.
“This style of training offers a safe way to learn new skills and concepts without putting trainees in harm’s way,” states John Jennings, Trainer, Frank’s International Training Center-Lafayette. “I am so happy to see Frank’s going in this direction because the next generation of workers will be very familiar with this interface and training will be easier and much more effective for them.”
Immersive training can significantly reduce training time on actual equipment and can mimic real time events. It also allows learning to take place without the need for using expensive operational equipments, thus reducing life cycle costs. LITE and Frank’s International plan to continue their partnership and begin the next phase of FIIT in the near future.
