STEG-IS Partners with iPAD Rwanda Power & Infrastructure Investment Forum in Kigali in November
Kigali, Rwanda, September 26, 2014 --(PR.com)-- STEG International Services (STEG-IS) has partnered as a platinum sponsor with the inaugural iPAD Rwanda Power & Infrastructure Investment Forum that will take place from 3-4 November in Kigali, Rwanda. The forum will gather investors, project developers, finance houses, construction and planning companies, technology providers from Rwanda, the region and from the rest of the world as well as high-level government representatives.
A leading international engineering, construction, and technical services provider for public and private sector companies, STEG-IS has been active in Rwanda for some time says Jamil Korked, the company’s Deputy General Manager. He explains: “In Africa, STEG-IS has operated in several countries. The main activities performed include but are not limited to: project planning, studies, network development, control and supervision of works and execution of rural electrification projects in Tanzania, Senegal, Cameroun and Sierra Leone. The most important one is in Rwanda which includes the electrification of 50000 households and the construction of 1300 km of distribution network with 500 MV / LV substations and a major program of support, training and capacity building of the Rwandan Electricity Company EWSA.”
Mr Korked will share the company’s experience during the upcoming iPAD Rwanda Power & Infrastructure Investment Forum in Kigali in November, in a presentation entitled: “Connecting rural Rwanda: Delivering efficiency and innovation.”
They are the right partner
“We are thrilled to have a company of STEG-IS’s reputation and experience on board as the platinum sponsor for the iPAD Rwanda Forum,” says event director Emmanuelle Nicholls. She adds: “They are the right partner as the company has done a lot of business in Rwanda and knows what it is talking about. We will showcase the enormous investment opportunities in the country’s power and infrastructure sectors and the Kigali government has proven that it can provide a stable and investor-friendly business climate. STEG-IS is a great example of this.”
It should be noted that STEG-IS is a subsidiary of the Tunisian State Company of Electricity and Gas (STEG), which has succeeded in the electrification of more than 99% of the country, one of the few African countries to achieve this. Mr Korked adds: “Through several successful projects in various African countries and the Middle East, we have built a network of trust and lasting partnerships based on a win-win approach and know-how sharing.”
Rwandan government has clear objectives
Mr Korked encourages prospective investors to also consider Rwanda in their business activities due its “political stability and security, good governance and transparency, organized and structured administration and high human resources skills. The government also has clear objectives in terms of education, health, poverty reduction and improvement of living standards.”
He adds: “Doing business in Rwanda we have been pleasantly surprised by the simplified procedures to start a business and the cultured and disciplined people. I find the Rwandan people kind, serious and hospitable.”
The iPAD Rwanda Power & Infrastructure Investment Forum enjoys the official support of the Rwandan government, the Rwanda Development Board and the country’s electricity utility, the Rwanda Energy Group (REG), is the host utility of the event.
The event is organised by Spintelligent, leading Cape Town-based trade exhibition and conference organiser, and the African office of Clarion Events Ltd, based in the UK.
