Storage Made Easy Enterprise File Share and Sync Solution Tightens Controls on Shared Files
Storage Made Easy today announced they had enhanced their governance controls to enable IT to pre-set file sharing policies.
London, United Kingdom, September 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Storage Made Easy today announced that it will give Administrators of its Enterprise File Sharing and Synchronization service increased control over file sharing policies for their users.
Storage Made Easy provide an Enterprise File Share and Sync service that is storage agnostic and that works with the combinations of private and public data services that companies use.
Pre-set file sharing policies will allow IT Administrators to place strict controls on file sharing polices across a companies ‘behind the firewall data stores’, as well as ‘cloud based data stores’.
This new feature enables pre-set polices to be set with regards to file expiry and password protection. An administrator can, for example, force all file shares to expire after 24 hours and a password to always be required for any files shared. Such polices would be applied consistently irrespective of whether the access client is web, desktop or mobile.
Geo Restriction access policies can also be applied as can device access policies. For example an accounting sub office could be restricted to access a particular folder only via the web and only from the IP address assigned to the sub office. All other access activity would be blocked.
As with all file event activity in the SME system, the file activity is audited and logged, irrespective of the data source or client access. This log is available for download as an excel report or can be integrated into other Enterprise logging and access systems.
The SME EFSS solution provides secure, real-time access to files stored in over 45 public and private content providers. This include solutions that reside behind the corporate firewall such as SharePoint, Documentum, other Content Management Interoperable Systems (CMIS), Windows File Shares (CIFS and DFS), and also enterprise cloud content such as that provided by Amazon S3, RackSpace Office 365, and others.
Jim Liddle, Storage Made Easy CEO, said, “The future of Enterprise file sharing is not going to be linked to any one system. Enterprise use different solutions for different purposes and these include storage solutions and internal applications that store content, coupled with cloud related content that could also be storage or application based. This combination of silo’d content needs to be managed in a unified way to offer unified control of enterprise content and to satisfy existing, and forthcoming, governance regulations. This is what the Storage Made Easy solution offers.”
Liddle finished by saying, “Too often you will hear companies talk about why you should move to their solution or as I often refer to it, ‘my cloud is better than their cloud’ pitches. They totally miss the point. They are simply creating another silo, another system for IT to manage and integrate. Unification and cross data controls and governance is the future for data management and we offer this out of the box.”
About SME Storage Made Easy:
Storage Made Easy is the trading name of Vehera LTD who has offices in the UK, USA and Switzerland. The SME solution allows IT to regain control of “cloud data sprawl” by unifying private/public company data and privately used employee cloud data solutions into a single converged infrastructure.
This can easily be managed and be used to set and enforce governance and audit controls for file access and sharing in addition to providing deep content search of indexed data. This approach provided a solution to the “shadow IT” conundrum and makes it possible for companies to find a balance between the protection of corporate data and employee data by allowing businesses to monitor, secure and audit all data silos, be they private or cloud or company or employee, from a single access point.
