Ladies to Get Schooled at "Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!" Keys University Nov. 14-16
Women's-only getaway in Islamorada and Tavernier, Florida Keys, includes fishing, rigging, conservation and more.
Islamorada, FL, October 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Women will catch angling skills at the award winning "Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!®" Keys University, November 14-16 in the Sport Fishing Capital of the World.
Held in conjunction with support from Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) with Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration, the Keys University attracts women from several states for an exciting weekend of educational and hands-on fishing activities, habitat conservation, socializing and optional charter boat fishing.
The Award-winning "No-Yelling School of Fishing" Curriculum
Known as the "No-Yelling School of Fishing," this award-winning University for women will kick off on Friday, November 14, with a social and Master Chef Potluck Appetizer contest from 6:30-9 pm at the Tavernier Elks MM 99 Bayside.
Saturday's events begin at 8:30 am with classroom presentations on conservation, fishing basics, offshore, bottom and inshore fishing and a presentation by The Everglades Foundation, followed by lunch. The FWC will demonstrate safe hook removal, release techniques and more conservation habits.
In the afternoon are hands-on fishing skills such as releasing, conservation, knot tying, bait rigging, spin and net casting, grapefruit gaffing, trailer backing and boat handling. Events conclude with a networking party at the Redbone Gallery. On Sunday ladies can choose from offshore, inshore, party boat or guided kayak fishing out of Whale Harbor or Robbies. Bonus fishing for participants and male or female guests is offered on Friday and Monday.
Featured on national network television, newspapers and magazines, the University series is also supported by major partners Mercury Outboards, Ranger Boats, Minn Kota, Humminbird and Magic Tilt Trailers. Other partners are on the LadiesLetsGoFishing website.
Participants receive classroom instruction, use of equipment, hands-on training, networking reception and fundraisers, lunch, goody bags and more. The fundraisers help support the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. Women and teen girls age 16 and up are welcome when accompanied by an adult female.
