New York Rehab Centers Team Up to Support Limb Loss with First Annual "Out on a Limb Walk-a-Thon"
Long Beach, NY, October 03, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Grandell rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Long Beach and Allied Orthopedic Prosthetic Rehab Center have come together to hold the first annual Out On A Limb Walk-A-Thon to support those who have suffered from limb loss, both globally and locally. The Walk will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Long Beach Boardwalk’s Grand Ave. entrance. Sign in will take place at 10 am, with the walk following at noon. After the event, Freedom Innovations and Ossur have each donated a running foot and componentry to be raffled to two winners. A.O. Prosthetic Rehab Center will fabricate the leg for the two lucky winners of the raffle.
This walk is to raise money for 3 great organizations that help amputees in different ways: the ACA, CAF, and Living Water Children's Centre Fund. The Amputee Coalition of America(ACA) is a great organization that helps amputees through all stages of the amputation, such as operation, support groups, and peer counseling. The Challenged Athletes Foundation(CAF) is another great organization that assists amputees gain confidence in becoming more active, helping through grants for bikes, running legs, running clinics, swim clinics, and more. The Living Water Children's Centre Fund is a wonderful international organization that assists children in 3rd world countries. They have recently begun to bring aid to amputees in Africa, and Haiti.

Allied’s facility affords patients the full array of ramps, inclines and stairs to maximize the quality of rehabilitative training.
