NACCE2014, Powered by Intuit, Will Feature Stellar Lineup Focused on Entrepreneurship: From Mindset to Meaningful Action
NACCE2014, being held in Phoenix, AZ from October 12 through 15, will feature an all-star lineup of speakers from the academic, entrepreneurial, and foundation worlds to discuss the conference theme, "Entrepreneurship: From Mindset to Meaningful Action."
Springfield, MA, October 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE), the nation’s leading organization focused on promoting entrepreneurship through community colleges, will hold its 12th Annual Conference October 12-15 in Phoenix, AZ. An all-star lineup of speakers from the academic, entrepreneurial, and foundation worlds will discuss the conference’s theme, Entrepreneurship: From Mindset to Meaningful Action.
NACCE 2014, Powered by Intuit, is expected to draw some 500 community college presidents, administrators, faculty, entrepreneurship center directors and workforce directors. Intuit, creator of business and financial management solutions that simplify the business of life for small businesses, consumers and accounting professionals, has signed on as the lead sponsor for NACCE2014.
Saras Sarasvathy, Isidore Horween research associate professor at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business, returns this year as a keynote speaker. This year’s conference theme builds on a series of presentations Dr. Sarasvathy made for community college presidents at NACCE2013 on the entrepreneurial mindset, also known as “effectuation.” Dr. Sarasvathy will lead a pre-conference session on Sunday, Oct. 12, that will be a master class in “Applying Effectuation: Using the Entrepreneurial Method to Lead a Community College.”
“All of NACCE is excited to welcome back Dr. Sarasvathy,” said NACCE President and CEO Heather Van Sickle. “Her research on the entrepreneurial mindset is having a great impact on our members. It has been the focus of much discussion, and, more importantly, of much action at our member colleges over the past year. Our members are looking forward to learning more about how to take meaningful actions that will move entrepreneurship forward in the communities they serve.”
Also sure to be a highlight of NACCE2014, Powered by Intuit is a panel discussion on “National Trends in Collaboration in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem,” which will be moderated by Heather Van Sickle. The panel will highlight national trends in entrepreneurship and how organizations are collaborating with each other to ignite entrepreneurship in the community. Panelists expected to appear include: Earl Gohl, federal co-chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission; Julie Lenzer Kirk, director of the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship within the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce; Tim McNulty, associate vice president of Government Relations at Carnegie Mellon University; Doug Rand, policy advisor, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy; and Jon Robinson, manager of Entrepreneurship Programs at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
