Somerville, NJ, October 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome's Wednesday Webinar series will explore mental health issues in today's Asian American community. Dr. Andrew Lee designed this presentation to shed light on the cultural factors contributing to the stigma surrounding mental illness.
Dr. Lee will discuss Asian cultural values that may prevent a person in need from seeking out mental health services. The webinar will also include a look at the model minority myth-the negative implications of this myth, and the role of ethnic identity and acculturation.

Dr. Andrew Lee
Dr. Lee is director of the Office of Counseling and Disability Services at Kean University. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and his doctoral degree from the Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology in clinical psychology. He has worked with a wide variety of age groups and ethnic populations throughout his career, but has particular expertise in working with Asian American young adults who are struggling with integrating two distinct worlds and multiple voices into a cohesive and satisfying personal experience.
