B&Bs Thank Veterans and Offer Free Stays or Discounts on 2014 Veteran’s Day for 6th Year Running
Bed and Breakfasts in US and Canada are offering free stays or discounts to Vets and Active Military for Veteran's Day.
Daniel Island, SC, October 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Thousands of active military and veterans will enjoy a great night’s sleep and a gourmet breakfast on Veteran's Day at B&Bs in the U.S. and Canada
Inns and B&Bs throughout the U.S. and Canada will honor active military and veterans by offering complimentary stays or significant discounts on November 10/11, 2011, in observance of Veteran's Day. This is the 6th year in a row that the bed and breakfast industry has opened its doors to veterans in this way and the Professional Association of Innkeepers International is coordinating the effort. It is expected that hundreds of inns will sign up in the B&Bs for Vets program as up to 900 have participated in past years. For a complete list of U.S. inns U.S. inns, visit http://www.bnbsforvets.org and for Canada, visit http://www.bbcanada.com/bbforvets. As inns are being added every day, interested veterans should visit these websites often. The B&Bs for Vets program started when Kathleen Panek, co-owner of Gillum House and a handful of other innkeepers in West Virginia opened their doors to veterans in honor of Veteran's Day 2008. Once again this year, the Professional Association of Innkeepers International will coordinate the B&Bs for Vets program in conjunction with BBCanada.com to thank veterans and introduce them to today's B&B experience. The first inn to sign up for the B&Bs for Vets this year was the Inn at Black Star Farms in Suttons Bay, MI who have been participating for over five years. “We usually end up with more than one veteran or active military couple staying with us and it’s really interesting to hear stories of their experiences,” says Kellie Parks of Black Star Farms. “We do a hospitality hour in the evenings so conversation just flows, and the other guests are usually enthralled with the stories as well.” The offers vary from discounted stays on Veteran’s Day to free stays on either Nov 10 or 11 to year-round discount programs such as 25% off every day for veterans at The 1898 Waverly Inn in Hendersonville, NC and the creative Lang House B&B on Sheridan (Chicago) who offers a quarterly raffle for a free 2-night stay in addition to their everyday veteran’s discount. Veterans and active military are urged to take advantage of the offers from the B&B community as innkeepers look forward to demonstrating their gratitude to them. Those interested in reserving a room are asked to contact the inn/B&B directly where they wish to stay. Proof of military service will be requested and all policies of the inn will be enforced for the free or discounted stays.
