How to Launch in the International Market Without Troubles - Step Forward in the Translation of Applications with Locserv, Softengi Startup
LocServ, a “startup” born in Softengi, has developed a localization tool allowing decreasing by three times the expenses for the launch of new products at the international market. According to the first implementation results, the tool also allows to translate and localize applications two times faster compared with all existing market applications.
Kyiv, Ukraine, October 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Many CEOs or Business Development Managers dream about or already start making first steps in the launch of their successful and popular application/product into international market. At this stage the company faces the first revelation – if localization was not planned at the initial stage of application development, the translation of mature and already popular products could become a complicated and expensive experience. Softengi, as a software developer, has already faced this inability to translate and localize an enterprise application without wasting tens of years and millions of dollars. LocServ startup born in Softengi has developed a new localization tool, allowing localizing millions of code lines without wasting millions of working-hours.
Localization is the process of adapting internationalized software for a specific region or language by adding locale-specific components and translating text. Back in 2010 a U.S. customer of Softengi had initiated a project to localize its product to enter the markets of other countries. The product was developed since 2001 and had more than 2 million of code lines, which all needed to be localized and all visible texts to be translated.
In 2010, Softengi’s localization team has started the work using the standard localization process recognized in the whole world, dividing code between the developers and using manual take out of text in a separate file.
After working by the above-mentioned process for two years, with initially one year estimated, it became clear that the volumes of testing were too big, none of the application modules was fully localized, and it was not clear how much was left to do.
Viktor Bezhenar, LocServ Project Manager: "A year later, the customer again has made the request for localization, and we came to the conclusion that the localization process needs to be automated. After checking the market and not finding any suitable applications for this purpose, we have developed own Localization Studio (LocStudio) application, allowing us to work faster, always know the exact volume of localization work to be done and making the translation job three times easier."
Through the use of the Localization Studio application, which is an implementation of the automated approach to localization, the team has managed to complete the localization project for the customer. In total, localization time composed of six months instead of one year estimated with the standard approach, which not only facilitated the launch of the product in the international market, but also by three times decreased the overall expenses for the customer.
