LESC Announces Its Third Permanent Supportive Congregate Housing Initiative
New York, NY, October 12, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Lower Eastside Service Center (LESC), Inc. announced today the Grand Opening of Franklin Avenue Residence, its third permanent supportive congregate housing initiative in New York City. The newly constructed apartment building will provide eligible New Yorkers with affordable, permanent housing with on-site support services.
Franklin Avenue Residence consists of 98 apartments for individuals and offers amenities such as 24/7 security, fully equipped kitchen and living area with telephone/cable/wireless capabilities, community space, meeting rooms, computer lab, garden/recreation area, and a kitchen designated for instructional lessons focused on healthy cooking. Valerie Walters, LESC President & CEO, stated the application process for prospective tenants has already begun and that the organization hopes to reach 100% of resident capacity in the coming months.
On-site services include health, vocational, nutrition, life skills, counseling, case management, therapy, education, harm reduction, trauma informed counseling, and substance abuse recovery services.
Franklin Avenue Residence has been made possible by a multitude of funding sources and partners which include New York City Housing Preservation Department, New York City Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, New York City Department of Homeless Services, Corporation of Supportive Housing, Richman Group, J. Pilla Group, Harden Van Arnam Architects, Wavecrest Management, A. Larovere Consulting, LLC, and Karen Sherman with ShermanLaw.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10AM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Franklin Avenue Residence which is located at 1341 Franklin Avenue, Bronx, NY 10456.
