Haunted House to Open in Baltimore 2015
Engineered Fear Productions, a haunted attraction production company, has purchased a long-vacated building in the heart of Baltimore City to use as a future haunted attraction venue. The production company plans to open their haunted attraction in October of 2015, after completing necessary renovations to the historic building in the center of Old Town Mall.
Baltimore, MD, October 13, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Haunted House to Open in Baltimore October 2015.
Joe Hudson, founder of Engineered Fear Productions, purchased the old Kaufman’s department store in Old Town Mall. Engineered Fear Productions is a haunted attraction production company whose goal is to open their event by October 2015, during the Halloween season. This location puts the future haunted attraction in the center of the city and in close proximity to popular areas like Federal Hill, Canton, and Fells Point.
“Being nearby Federal Hill, Fells Point and the Inner Harbor, we hope that our patrons will be able to make us a part of their night out on the town, rather than spend two hours in the car to find a quality haunted house,” said Tom Wingate, Director of Operations.
Engineered Fear Productions’ goal is to create a haunted house experience, set in turn-of-the-19th century Baltimore that is more of a theatrical production than a series of random scary scenes. The goal is to distinguish themselves from other haunts in the area with an indoor event, intricate designs, immersive scenes, and close proximity to popular areas of Baltimore. “We believe that a proper scare is an art. The scenes have to tell a story and our actors need engaging characters able to improvise with patrons in order to really pull visitors into the narrative,” said Joe Hudson.
Engineered Fear Productions’ team consists of staff members who have been working in the industry together for the past 10 years. Joe Hudson and his team have been looking for the perfect venue for the last three years before choosing the old Kaufman’s building. The plan is to turn this 4-story, 40,000 square foot property into a haunted house by October 2015. Currently the group is promoting a Kickstarter to help raise funds for renovations. The hope is that by restoring and utilizing the largest building in Old Town Mall, the event will attract attention to the area and help the effort to renew the mall and the surrounding area.
