Accretive Health Employees Volunteer to Bake "Cookies from the Heart" at Ronald McDonald House
Accretive Helping Hands, the not-for-profit organization led be Accretive Health employees, recently provided fresh baked cookies for the 16 families that stay at the 86-room facility to be near their children in the hospital.
Chicago, IL, October 15, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Since its opening in June 2012, the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago has inspired many to volunteer -- doing whatever they can to help with cleaning and meals. Recently, Accretive Helping Hands, the not-for-profit organization led be Accretive Health employees, provided fresh baked cookies for the 16 families that stay at the 86-room facility to be near their children in the hospital.
As part of the “Cookies from the Heart” program, 10 Accretive Helping Hands volunteers came together to purchase the ingredients and bake in the Ronald McDonald House Charities’ kitchen.
“Once our employees learned about this unique way to provide a comforting treat to patient families, they immediately responded,” said Accretive Health’s senior vice president and chief people officer Caroline Stockdale. “We were thrilled to assist the employees at the Ronald McDonald House. Our work aligns us with hospitals and their patients throughout the year, so it was great to find another opportunity to help. This activity reflects our commitment to serve.”
Like other Ronald McDonald Houses around the world, the downtown Chicago site provides a “home-away-from-home” for families while their children are treated in the hospital. More information about the event can be obtained at: rmhccni.org/volunteer-lurie/.
